The Texas Flying Legends Museum was honored to present its newest addition to the fleet to former President George Herbert Walker Bush in a private and very moving ceremony. We gathered on April 6, 2013 at the Texas Flying Legends Museum Hangar at Ellington Field, Texas.

President Bush is the epitome of fortitude and sacrifice of self; his actions as a pilot in World War II are in keeping with the values that we at the Texas Flying Legends want to emulate in our day to day lives.

The ceremony included the opportunity for president Bush to witness one of his sons and one of his grandchildren flying in the Avenger. It brought tears to many who were watching the emotional event and brought pure joy to all in attendance to see our former president smile with pride and admiration.

The event will not be forgotten by the members of our organization and we are proud of the opportunity to provide such a memory to one of the greatest generation's greatest public servants.

I had the opportunity to visit the Texas Flying Legends today, and their hospitality and the collection is fantastic. The Avenger is perfect, and the prop was positioned so that we could see the President Bush signature first hand! This aircraft is something to see in person.

I am glad you have an Avenger and restored for flying. I flew one of these as a member of Air Group 6 (VT-6) off of the USS John Hancock in 1945. I have twenty missions before the war ended and was awarded the Navy Cross for a direct hit on the Aoba(a Japenese cruiser). Hope everyone enjoys the air show.
